Furious Emma Armstrong lost out after dealing with rogue trader Jim Watson.

Civil servant Emma, 21, went to Lambton Cars Centre to part-exchange her old Ford Ka for a yellow MG.

Watson offered to pay-off the pounds 5,000 she owed on the Ford Ka but only valued it at pounds 2,500, meaning an extra pounds 2,500 would be added to the value of the MG she was buying.

He then arranged finance for her with an outside company, despite not having a licence to do so.

Emma, of Dunston, Gateshead, went on to pay pounds 150 a month between March and August to the finance firm, expecting the cash owed on her old car to have been paid off.

But the cheque written by Watson bounced, meaning Emma missed payments on her old car.

Now, her credit rating has been damaged and she fears it will plague her for the rest of her life. …
