'Eviction Notice' Lands Him in Jail; He Wanted His Brother's Girl out of Their House, So He Fired, Police Say

A Jacksonville man who couldn't get his brother's girlfriend to move out has a new address of his own.

Neil Robert Thompson Sr., 48, was in jail Wednesday, accused of firing a handgun into Cynthia Louise Mantilla's laptop computer when she refused his demands to leave the house the three share on North Jax Estates Drive, according to a police report.

"He was yelling really loud, from the bottom of his lungs," Mantilla, 43, said about the argument that started after she arrived home Tuesday. "I said, 'No, I'm not going to move.'"

A few minutes later, Thompson came from his bedroom and leveled a gun at Mantilla and the laptop she was using, she said.

"I just sat there," she said. "I started trembling."

Thompson told police he "blasted the computer."

"I don't know if he was aiming at me and changed his shot," Mantilla said. "I don't know."

Shards of the laptop's shattered screen and other debris cut Mantilla's face and legs, requiring her to be treated by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department medics. …
