Fox Pregame Show Set for Visit to Alltel

For the second time in the last 20 months, Fox Sports will use Jacksonville to showcase a piece in its increasing inventory of sports programming.

In February of 2005, Fox televised Super Bowl XXXIX from Alltel Stadium. This Sunday, for the first time, Fox will hold its NFL pregame show, Fox NFL Sunday, live from the Pepsi Zone adjacent to Alltel Stadium.

The show will air live from noon to 1 p.m., and the public is invited to be on site to watch.

It's Fox's newest concept in its Sunday NFL coverage, taking Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long and Jimmy Johnson out of the Los Angeles studio and originating the show from the site of the featured game that week. The network also named Joe Buck the host of the network's NFL pregame show, replacing James Brown, who moved to CBS in a similar position after 12 years at Fox.

Buck, 37, will continue as Fox's play-by-play announcer on its No. 1 broadcast team, which includes analyst Troy Aikman and field reporter Pam Oliver. The dual role for Buck is unprecedented and has the six-time Emmy Award-winning play-by-play announcer both excited and a bit apprehensive.

"I literally have no idea of what it's going to be like," he said Friday between interviews with Jaguars coaches and players. "I think I know, but we've never practiced it, never rehearsed it. We'll do that tomorrow.

"My main focus and preparation will be getting ready for my game. With the pregame show, I'll interject my opinion on topics, but I'll be like the traffic cop, steering the show while letting the analysts offer their thoughts."

It's Buck's first time back in Jacksonville since the Super Bowl.

"I love being here. We were here for a week during the Super Bowl and stayed in Ponte Vedra, where we had access to TPC," he said. "I would come here [to the stadium] and then go back and relax. …
