Colleagues of a "popular" teenage girl stabbed in a park as she took a short cut to work yesterday spoke of their shock at the attack.

Carley Furness was slashed in the neck and stomach, in what police believe was a robbery gone wrong, as she headed to her part-time job in Orpington, Kent, on Saturday.

As police released a picture of the 17-year-old, colleagues at Dorothy Perkins ( where she has worked for 18 months ( said they were "devastated" by the stabbing.

A store spokeswoman described Carley as a "very popular" member of the team, who "loves her job".

She said: "We are devastated by the attack on Carley, which has shocked and shaken the whole team.

"Naturally we are all concerned for her and her family, who we are keeping in close contact with at this difficult time.

"We wish her a full and speedy recovery."

Carley was attacked at about 8.40am on Saturday after getting off a bus and entering Priory Gardens, on her way to Orpington High Street. …
