Salisbury Spins out Another Year; LONDON SPORT ROUNDUP

SURREY have announced that last season's leading wicket taker, Ian Salisbury, has agreed a deal to stay at the club for another year.

The ex-England bowler claimed an impressive 59 wickets, helping them bounce straight back into the First Division of the County Championship.

Manager Alan Butcher said: "Ian has been an excellent servant to the club since joining us in 1997.

"His form this year has been exceptional and was due reward for his hard work.

"I look forward to him playing an equally important role for us next year."

Salisbury added: "This year was extremely satisfying for me. I'm excited about next year already and hope we'll continue our good run of form and really give the title a good shake."

THE European Ryder Cup team have been short-listed for the Square Mile Sports Awards.

For the first time, London's businesses within the City will be allowed to vote for their favourite sports team of 2006.

Also shortlisted are Chelsea, the Great Britain Coxless Four rowers, the England cricket team, Sale Sharks and the Great Britain men's 4x100m relay team.
