Injured Kitten Needs a Home

A LOVEABLE kitten believed to have been kicked in the head by a horse is looking for a new home.

The nine-week-old tabby was named Willy Wonka after it was handed into Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter suffering from an injury which left him with a "wonky head".

Willy was found looking dazed and confused on a dirt track near stables in Benton, Newcastle, about two weeks ago, and vets who treated him said his condition was consistent with being kicked by a horse.

The kitten has since made a steady recovery thanks to staff at the Dog and Cat Shelter, particularly former midwife Jean Smith, 58, who began working at the centre in April.

She said: "He is a really loving kitten and likes to be held. He is very cute and you can't help but pick him up and cuddle him. He'll be a lovely pet for someone."

The mother-of-two, who was a midwife for 30 years, said: "I joined the Dog and Cat Shelter as office support, but I've been surprised by how much animal care I've been able to do. …
