After I had picked up the pieces like everyone else after Middlesbrough, one of the first things I thought about was the striker situation.

Well, the only thing I think Glenn Roeder can do now is stick with his forwards because from now until the end of 2006 he has little other choice.

Oba Martins and Antoine Sibierski should really have put the game out of Boro's reach before half-time, but they didn't and that's the end of it.

Sibierski could be missing for a while now, but Martins just has to keep going.

Then you have Shola Ameobi who, despite carrying a hip problem, isn't doing a bad job.

And, of course, Seppe Rossi is yet to have a real stab at things despite racking up 47 minutes or so as sub since arriving from Man United.

As a manager you have to keep faith with your forwards because their luck will change in front of goal ( it's a guarantee.

But what they have to do is remain confident despite the misses. …
