Parking Wardens Caught on Camera Sent for Training

PARKING firm NCP has been forced to draft in reinforcements to patrol North streets as its under-fire workers have been sent on an urgent training course.

Staff at the firm, which runs the contract to enforce parking rules in Sunderland, were shown using racist language and making comments about disabled drivers on a recent undercover television documentary.

Now the company - also facing criticism after issuing parking tickets without correct traffic orders in place - has fast-tracked its Sunderland staff onto a diversity training course.

With six attendants already suspended following the programme, NCP has now brought two staff up from Preston, Lancashire, to plug gaps on the city's streets.

NCP spokesman James Pritchard said: "They're coming up to provide cover and support while the rest of the parking attendants at the Sunderland base get our diversity training course.

"This is something we'd been planning to do for all our parking attendants for some considerable period of time. …
