Residents are urging housing chiefs to step up their work to improve a run-down Stockton estate.

More than 200 people in Parkfield have signed a petition protesting at what they describe as "sub-standard" living conditions.

Millions of pounds of Government money has been earmarked for a regeneration scheme in the area.

But householders claim they are being left to languish in crumbling properties that are cold and draughty.

Rose-Anne Moss, 49, has lived on the estate for 30 years.

"It was gorgeous when I first moved here," she said.

"There was a queue of people wanting to get on the estate. But in the last 10 or 15 years it has been left to go to rack and ruin. It's become a dumping ground for drug dealers, addicts and trouble makers. The place is in a mess."

But the defiant mum of one said she is determined to see the estate improved and is lobbying Stockton Council and Tristar Homes to improve the estate. …
