Brutally abused by a pervert preacher, his life lay in tatters.

Now Kevin Young has suffered more anguish after judges overturned a landmark ruling that had paved the way for him to sue for damages.

Mr Young suffered at the hands of vile Neville Husband while serving a short sentence at the Medomsley Detention Centre in 1977.

He blocked the ordeal from his mind but after a chance encounter with Husband nearly 20 years later, the full horror came back to haunt him.

Mr Young, 45, of Jarrow, South Tyneside, launched a legal bid for compensation cash from the Home Office, which tried to block his efforts, saying too much time had lapsed since the abuse.

But it was ruled at Leeds Crown Court the case could proceed, based on the dad-of-one not realising the full impact of Husband's attacks until later in life.

Now, the Home Office have successfully challenged the decision, meaning Mr Young will go without a penny in compensation. …
