T-YOU; Rants & Raves Kerry's Gaffe Not as Bad as Getting Us into Iraq

Article excerpt

It just amazes me that everybody is up in arms about an off-hand comment Sen. [John] Kerry made concerning the troops or us stuck in Iraq.

And yet, the man who sent them there on a lie gets away with it.

Almost 3,000 troops dead, hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis dead because of his overambitious incompetence, yet the man who makes an off-hand remark is the bad guy who has served in Vietnam, in face-to-face combat with the Viet Cong.

It amazes me that people can be that way. That is just incredible.

I have lived in the flight path of several Navy bases in my lifetime and the sounds of the aircraft become ambient noise over a short time.

Waaahhh, come buy my $450,000 house because it will be worthless if Cecil comes back. ...

Your pool parties will be just as fun - unless you are one to always look for something to complain about. If so, move on to your next target.

Jacksonville needs the Navy jobs. Think about housing values if there are major job losses in Northeast Florida.

Mayor [John] Peyton once again has shown his colors. The fact that he and his family own property out there [near Cecil Field], it just tells the entire story of what politicians are any more. This is disgusting.

I am getting a little tired of all this Cecil Field business as a master jet base.

Do these people ever stop and think that maybe a place like Camp Blanding would be an ideal place? ... The property is already taken care of.

I am a lady in my 60s, and my two aunts are in their 70s and 80s. We attended a showing of One Night With the King in Orange Park on Sunday afternoon.

When we walked in the dark theater, we paused to get our bearings. The seats seemed to be taken, except the high ones in the back.

Then, three people got up out of their seats and gave them to us. I just want to thank them so much.

And the movie was wonderful. I would recommend it to singles and families alike.

There's a question on the front page: "Why do we vote on Tuesdays?"

It's an old, old tradition. It was set up by the gentry to keep the working man from voting because the working man worked from sunup to sundown, so from 7 to 7 it was pretty hard for him to vote.

So, it kept the working man, and the people who had to work that terrible time from 7 to 7, away from the polls. …
