Gateshead boss Tony Lee looked at the positives today ahead of tomorrow's daunting FA Trophy third qualifying round clash at Conference North leaders Workington, (writes Jeff Bowron).

The Tynesiders' injury curse struck again in midweek when central defender James Curtis was ruled out for several weeks with a broken toe.

Curtis joins four other players on the sidelines as Lee reshuffles his side to face a Workington outfit led by former Gateshead manager Tommy Cassidy.

Lee said: "Losing Curtis is a real blow because he has been outstanding for me this season and is a player who could easily play at a higher level.

"On top of all the injury problems it is setback we could have done without, but Chris Mason has done well at the centre of defence and will be a capable deputy."

Mason will partner Christian Hanson and, with former Hartlepool flyer Steven Istead struggling with a groin injury, Craig Baxter is set to move into midfield. …
