The Hard Work Is Only Just Beginning, Warns Roeder

Glenn Roeder has warned Newcastle United that the hard work has just started in their bid to win the UEFA Cup, (writes Alan Oliver).

The United boss was obviously delighted at last night's goalless draw with Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany, which left them unbeaten in Group H and as eventual winners with 10 points out of 12.

United have completed their four-match programme in this latest stage, but they will have to wait until December 14 for the rest of the group to sort themselves out.

But as winners of the group United will go into the draw for a place in the last 16 on Friday, December 15, knowing they will be at home in their second leg on February 22.

They will travel to one of the teams who finishes third in their group on either Wednesday, February 14 or the following night, but they cannot be paired with either Blackburn Rovers or Tottenham.

Nor can they be drawn with one of their other teams from Group H, but it is possible for them to come out of the hat with Rangers. …
