Police Briefs; Man Reports Attack While Riding Bike along Road

Following is a list of arrests and crimes reported by Beaches-area police departments:


-- A 46-year-old man was attacked as he was riding his bicycle about 3:25 a.m. Monday morning on Simmons Road near Mayport Road.

The man said he was riding his bicycle when a car approached and two men got out and punched and kicked him in the face, head and chest. The attackers got back in the car and drove off.

-- Three gunshots were reported about 1 a.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of Jordan Street.

A crowd gathered on a nearby street shortly after the shots were fired. Police did not find anyone with a gun, but did find three 9 mm bullet casings in the middle of Jordan Street.

-- A .380-caliber automatic Cobra handgun was stolen sometime last month from a bag stored in the bedroom of a house in the 100 block of Jackson Road.

-- A 25-year-old man was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, drunk driving, possession of cocaine and speeding after a brief chase with police about 1:45 a.m. Friday that ended in the 600 block of Aquatic Drive.

An officer saw the man driving 40 mph in a 25 mph zone on Royal Palm Drive. When police pursued him, the man sped down several roads before stopping on Aquatic Drive. Police found a bag with a small amount of cocaine on the car's passenger seat.


-- A 51-year-old Ponte Vedra Beach woman was arrested Sunday on a charge of drunk driving and drug possession after she caused an accident in the 800 block of Ninth Street North and police found a small piece of crack cocaine on her.

-- A man reported Sunday that someone broke a window in his 1993 Chevy and damaged the steering column while trying to steal the car.

-- A wooden table, two chairs and a pumpkin were reported stolen Sunday from a front porch in the 3500 block of Bay Island Circle.

-- Officers arrested three men and a woman at a loud party about 2 a. …
