One unwanted guest will be gone before Thanksgiving dinner, Northeast Florida meteorologists said Wednesday.

The unseasonably cold weather -- which had some people watching for snow overnight Tuesday -- is expected to be over when the high temperature reaches the mid- to upper-60s today.

"We've had a strong low pressure system that was a dive from the Ohio Valley. It's kind of been meandering over us for the last 24 hours," said Eric Zappe, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Jacksonville. "It seems to be heading toward the Northeast."

Weather experts reported on Wednesday that snowflakes were spotted with the rain falling in Central Florida around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Zappe said a similar wintry mix was spotted along the coastline in Flagler County around 11 p.m.

"A lot of people were probably asleep while it occurred," he said. "We're not saying it didn't happen. We just didn't get any reports on it."

Even if snow did fall, the ground was too warm for it to stick, Zappe said. …
