Philip Glenister, 42, played DCI Gene Hunt in the BBC1 Seventies-themed cop series Life On Mars. He lives in Richmond with his partner of nine years, actress Beth Goddard, and their two children, Milly, four, and Charlotte, one.

FOUR years ago I moved out of West Hampstead, where I was living when I met Beth. We had been flitting between my place and hers in Muswell HIll, both one-bedroom flats. We found a lovely Edwardian three-bedroom cottage in Sheen. We had Milly there, but when Charlotte came along we needed bigger place. We bought a fourbedroom semi in Richmond and saddled ourselves with a rather large mortgage. What we loved about the house was the quality loft conversion and the fact that it was neutrally decorated - we could just move in and make it our own. There are some great primary schools around here, we've got a park on the doorstep and a good bus

service to Hammersmith. I can be at Waterloo in 25 minutes and in town by car in an hour. …
