One of Newcastle's newest restaurants, The Grainger Rooms, is intent on keeping the majority of its fare local.

Based in Higham Place, its plan is to bring the finest ingredients from the North East's fishermen, microbrewers and farmers into the heart of Newcastle City Centre.

The restaurant gives diners the chance to enjoy the type of modern British food rarely found in the urban jungle.

Try a handpicked forest mushroom pie with truffle mash, a Belted Galloway rib-eye steak, freshly-caught Northumbrian lobster or a plate of Craster smoked salmon. If you just want a quick bite, there's a range of doorstep sarnies including Creamy Yorkshire Blue and Grape Jam, and a monstrous BLT.
