Gateshead's Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art is gearing up for one of its busiest and most eclectic years yet. We find out more from its director Peter Doroshenko

IT'S now one of the most famous art galleries in the country, if not Europe.

But the Baltic, on the Gateshead Quays, is often steeped in controversy with the work it displays.

2007 looks set to be one of its most eclectic years yet, under the helm of its director Peter Boroshenko.

The venue will welcome some of the most innovative and dynamic graffiti artists, whose work will be used alongside film projections and an audio soundtrack to create an urban environment filling the entire exhibition space.

Tell us more about the graffiti project.

We are excited to welcome these artists to Baltic. The G word will allow them to work within the gallery setting to showcase their work and will provide visitors with a unique opportunity to see this work in a different context.
