VOLUNTEER FOR CHARITY

This year Bausch and Lomb Championships is launching a Volunteer for Charity program that will raise money for seven charitable organizations during its tennis tournament at the Amelia Island Plantation April 2-8.

The Nassau Alcohol Crime Drug Abatement Coalition, Pilot Club of Jacksonville, St. Michael's Academy, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Nassau County, Amelia Island Montessori School, the American Lung Association and Episcopal Children's Services are the chosen charities.

Each of the 400 volunteers working at the tennis tournament can select which charity to support; Bausch and Lomb will then donate $10 to the chosen charity for every shift a volunteer works.

Interested applicants must go to the "contact us" page on the tournament Web site at www.blchamps.com and fill out the information online.

COMMUNITIES IN SCHOOLS

Volunteers are needed for Communities In Schools programs in Nassau County middle and high schools.

Middle-school volunteers would participate in after-school programs.

High-school volunteers needed include interview and career coaches, career speakers and interview challenge judges. These activities take place during the school day.

READERS WANTED

The Amelia Book Island Festival is seeking book lovers to help read and evaluate the books submitted by authors.

Volunteers will read new books from virtually all genres. After reading, the person turns in a simple form giving his or her rating of the book and author.
