The Running Man Five, 9pm (1987) ...

A YOUNG Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in this adaptation of a Stephen King novel.

It's a bloodthirsty future, where convicted criminals are not jailed but forced to participate in a gameshow-style public execution. It's a game where no one is meant to survive, which makes it all the more annoying for Ben Richards (Schwarzenegger, pictured) - because he is a wrongly convicted innocent man.

Through brute force and a little bit of intelligence (but not, thankfully, a great amount of dialogue) Ben has to somehow win an unwinnable game. Mick Fleetwood and Frank Zappa's son Dweezil co-star.

Dead Bodies BBC1, 12.05pm (2003) ...

ANDREW SCOTT and Katy Davis, pictured above, star in this horror flick about a bloke who rows with his girlfriend... only to discover her dead body later on the same day. Sheesh, he thinks to himself, the argument wasn't that bad.

Not a very good film, and a fairly one-dimensional plot that seems to contain twists and turns simply because horror stories are suppose to have twists and turns. …
