Revived strugglers NEW MARSKE continued their climb away from the basement with an eye-catching 2-0 win away at third placed Cleadon.

The rejuvenated side had clocked up recent wins against fellow strugglers Cleator Moor and Annfield Plain but title-chasing Cleadon are a far bigger scalp.

In a goalless first half there was little to choose between the two sides but after the break New Marske stepped up a gear. They took a deserved lead as a crisp move found Adam Taylor in space in the box and he controlled well then fired in from eight yards.

Frustrated Cleadon picked up a flurry of bookings and had a man sent of with ten minutes left, leaving New Marske to take advantage of the extra space as Ben Parker nipped through unmarked to hammer in the second.

Form team GUISBOROUGH BLACK SWAN dominated for long spells but still went down 3-2 away at fellow league new boys Hartlepool.

They drew first blood early in the second half as Hartlepool's defence failed to deal with a long wind-assisted ball into the box, leaving David John free to lob over the stranded keeper. …
