ACD Coach Takes Dodgers Job; Hennessey Now a Scout; Campbell Takes over for 2A Champion Apaches

Arlington Country Day baseball coach Scott Hennessey has resigned to accept a scouting position with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Arlington private school has named Mark Campbell as his replacement.

In two seasons at ACD, Hennessey compiled a record of 47-17, including 9-1 in the playoffs.

"It's always been important to me to leave places better off than I found them, and hopefully, I've done that here," Hennessey said. "The timing of it, right in the middle of the year, made it very difficult for me to leave. But I always knew I eventually wanted to get back into pro baseball."

Hennessey said his scouting responsibilities with the Dodgers will include North Florida and South Georgia.

Campbell, a Southern California native who has lived in Jacksonville for 21 years, takes over an Apaches team that will defend the Class 2A state championship this season.

Campbell played two years at Florida International and in the Houston Astros' minor-league chain as a catcher. …
