Acklam Under-10s travelled to meet a well organised in-form Thirsk side this week.

They struggled to compete with the more physical Thirsk team in the first half, conceding possession and ultimately several tries.

Acklam did improve in the second half and scored tries through Sebi Connors and Zak Perera.

Although Acklam lost the game there was some good individual performances, with Shane Hammond especially showing the rest of the squad how to tackle.

Acklam Under-12s also travelled to Thirsk and won 12-28. Lewis Catterick opened the score with a converted try after some good work by his fly-half. Thirsk then got one back making it 5-7 at the break.

Following the restart there were two early tries from both sides.

Richard Martin scored Acklam's second after an exceptional 60 meter run.

The Acklam forwards started to dominate and Ricky Scott and Peter Martin scored two further tries with Lewis Catterick converting everything thrown at him.

There were outstanding games from twins Peter and Richard Martin, while Ricky Scott as captain led by example. Adam Dickenson and James Wilson showed good improvement.

Acklam's Under-13s made a long trip to Doncaster to face Thornesians in the Yorkshire Plate and won 25-5.

An explosive start to the match saw Acklam take control of the game from the whistle, with Adam Gill scoring two quick tries.

Fast possession from scrums meant Acklam were able to keep possession for long stretches of the match.

Thornensians were able to score a consolation try just before the half time whistle after a succession of kicks moved the play down field for the first time in the half. Chris Nicholson scored a hat-trick during the second half.

BLAYDON Under-14s visited Saltersgill also with some vocal supporters in tow.

A physical game was on the cards after their last meeting and early on Acklam turned on the power working well in scrums, rucks and mauls allowing Liam Cochran to burst through from half way and score.

James Howard converted.

Jason Harrison was over for the next and it was again converted by Howard.

Blaydon tightened things up until Loyd Wilson gave Acklam a 19-0 lead at the break.

The second half saw Blaydon coming out with more aggression, but the home defence held on well. Loyd Wilson scored again in the corner after a fast ball went along the backs.

Sadly an injury to a Blaydon forward stopped the game with it 24-0 to Acklam.

GUISBOROUGH Under-12s were away at Bullocksteads to face Gosforth and won 63-0.

First over to open the score was second row Adam Bell from a well worked ruck.

Joe Whyman came close to the second try, but was held up. Prop forward Dean Bird was in the thick of the action when he spotted the pick and drive to give his team their second try. …
