As Republicans had to deal with RINOs, the new Democratic majority in Congress must learn to live with DINOs.

And that promises to make 2007 an interesting year.

RINOs - Republicans in Name Only - are centrist and left-of-center members of the GOP who often break party ranks on important issues.

During the years that Republicans controlled Congress, they often thwarted their own party's agenda.

But now the new majority faces its own political "Trojan horse" - Democrats in Name Only - or the Blue Dog Democrats.

They have been around, and mostly ignored, for a decade.

The Blue Dogs shouldn't be confused with the Democratic Leadership Council, which is liberal on social issues and conservative on budget matters.

Nor are they the Boll Weevils, a group of conservative Southern Democrats who helped pass the Reagan agenda in the 1980s.

The Blue Dogs are House members who are conservative on social issues.

They're growing in number and, according to The Associated Press, they have been asserting their independence since the elections. …
