Saw something on the way into work which so shocked me, I drove round the roundabout twice to get a better look at it, in case I had misinterpreted what I saw.

I drive past one of those scary shops that basically sell gravestones, the ones where you never ever see a customer, presumably because headstones and gravestones are either catalogue based (unlikely) or potential customers are a little too emotionally troubled to be shopping around or window shopping ( either way the shops are invariably closed or empty.

Normally the display in the window never attracts my attention, what with it never changing ( ever.

Which is why when I spotted what I spotted, it took me aback.

The new headstone, is alarmingly, disturbingly different.

Instead of the classic, timeless marble or stone rectangular with some nice classic writing on, this one is a breakthrough all right on the design front, punches through to make a big impression.

I'll give you a clue, it's black and white striped, yes, it's a marble torso, wearing a Newcastle strip with a little white square in the middle to put name and details of loved one on. …
