Cakes Sales Dip in Warm Weather

Shares in Inter Link Foods slipped 3% yesterday after the cake maker said the exceptionally warm autumn weather had continued to cool sales.

The Blackburn group, which supplies a range of supermarkets and makes the fruit loaf brand Soreen, said turnover and profits for the half year to November 4 continued to reflect the slowdown in sales in the first quarter. Shares fell almost 3% ( down 10.5p to 385p.

Takings double at pub chain

PUNCH Taverns toasted a successful year yesterday after around 1,000 new pubs helped double takings.

The Burton-on-Trent firm said revenues jumped 101% to pounds 1.5bn in the 12 months to August 19, sending pre-tax profits up 21% to pounds 250m.

Flexible tarrifs boost contracts

OFFERING customers more flexible mobile phone tariffs has helped T-Mobile increase its number of contracts by a quarter to 3.6m, the company said yesterday.

The company also enjoyed a 9% boost in UK revenues to pounds 792m. …
