Far from being an ultra girly colour, pink is fast becoming an extremely stylish and easy to live with colour in the home. And let's face it, during January we could all do with some much needed eye candy! Thankfully those days when the male of the species being almost allergic to anything pink have gone, pink shirts are a staple of many men's wardrobes and be honest, they like pretty things as much as we do (well, almost!).

Pink, in all its various tones is undoubtedly easy on the eye and will fit effortlessly into most interior schemes and even though you may think that you don't have this colour anywhere in your homes I'm sure, if you have a quick look around, you'll find it nestling in somewhere.

Many of us have adopted the vintage look at home and this has been the rebirth for that 'girly' tone becoming cool again. A myriad of floral, spotty and patchwork patterns has meant that pastel and candy pink have become more than acceptable.

Cath Kidston has a lot to answer for ( and I thank her for that!

Also, the more romantic approach to interiors, with bedrooms across the nation turning from places of sleep into bejewelled boudoirs, means that pink also has another place to raise (and rest) its pretty head. Pink damask wallpapers, shot silk duvets and throws, velvet drapes and an abundance of coloured glassware has been a hot trend over the last few years, and one which continues to grow in popularity.

Bold damask wallpapers will give a dramatic effect in your boudoir but because the pattern is so strong the stereotypical girly pink becomes something more dominant and edgy.

Furniture designers were quick to catch on to the trend and to compliment the mainly white French renaissance furniture they created some beautiful pink pieces. But your pink needn't be pastel or candy because the spectrum of tones is huge. …
