Trophy defeat adds doubts

England coach Duncan Fletcher concedes the World Cup will come too soon for his team following their latest one-day humbling to Australia.

England's Caribbean campaign gets under way in less than five months but their preparations are way off course if performances in the ICC Champions Trophy are anything to go by.

Barring a miraculous chain of events ( India would need to complete landslide victories over Australia and West Indies in addition to England thrashing the latter ( England are out of the tournament and denied further game time ahead of next March's main event.

Saturday's six-wicket loss extended a worrying trend of England batting collapses as they capitulated from 83 without loss to 169 all out.

Once again they failed to use their allocation of overs on the Sawai Mansingh Stadium surface.

It is also 15 matches since England managed to bowl out the opposition in a one-day international. …
