BP Profits Fall to Pounds 3.33bn

The troubles at BP were laid bare yesterday when it posted falling third-quarter profits.

BP said it had made pounds 3.33bn in the three months to September 30, compared with pounds 3.45bn a year earlier.

The company was hit by problems at its Prudhoe Bay oilfield in Alaska and delays to the opening of Thunder Horse platform in the Gulf of Mexico.

Stores roll-out aids carpet firm

RETAILER Carpetright said 60 store openings had helped it increase first-half sales by 6% in the UK and Ireland.

In the rest of Europe, sales grew 9%, thanks to a strong performance in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Hospitality pays at Whitbread
