Eight Hurt in Ski Holiday Crash

A COACH driver was being questioned by police today after his vehicle overturned, seriously injuring eight Britons returning from a skiing trip in Andorra.

The accident happened yesterday morning on the French side of the border close to Pas de la Casa ski resort. The coach was on the RN20, which winds through the snow-filled valleys of the Pyrenees to Toulouse airport.

French police believe it may have been rushing to make a flight to London. A spokesman said: "It was a horrific crash which appears to have been caused by the driver speeding on treacherously icy roads.

"We suspect the driver may have been travelling far too fast. It is extremely lucky no one is dead." Firefighters freed trapped passengers and two of the injured, a man and a woman, had to be airlifted to hospital.

"They are in a very bad way, but their conditions are not thought to be life threatening," the police spokesman said. The others who were injured were driven to hospitals in Bourg Madame and Perpignan. …
