David Suchet to play media tycoon Maxwell in BBC2 film

POIROT star David Suchet, 60, is to play media tycoon Robert Maxwell in a new BBC drama.

The film, to be broadcast on BBC2 in April, will focus on the last few months in the life of the former Mirror owner as his corrupt business empire began to collapse. Maxwell died in 1991, aged 68, after falling from his yacht in mysterious circumstances. It later emerged he had plundered [pounds sterling]440 million from the Mirror's pension fund.

Food labels 'mislead shoppers'

SHOPPERS are being misled by nutrition labels adopted by companies including Tesco, Nestle and Kellogg's, the National Heart Forum claims. Introduced in opposition to the Food Standards Agency's "traffic lights" scheme, the labels show how much fat, salt and sugar are in products as a percentage of the guideline daily amount. The NHF says the figures are based on unrealistic portion sizes, making items seem healthier than they are.

Man murdered at guest house

A MURDER inquiry has been launched after a man was found dead at a guest house in central London. The victim - in his early thirties - was found dead at the Westminster House Hotel in Ebury Street, Victoria, yesterday. Police were called at 12.20pm by an ambulance crew. The man, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene. No details of how he died have been released.

A CHARITY accountant who pocketed half a million pounds of public money to fund a passion for racing cars has been jailed for four years. James Munroe, 42, of King's Lynn, had been jailed in 2000 over a [pounds sterling]2.8million con but was released on licence in 2003 and took a [pounds sterling]63,000a-year job with Automotive Skills Ltd, where he forged cheques to buy a [pounds sterling]70,000 Porsche, lease three other cars, and rent a cottage. …
