Lungo Has Made Right Choice Again

Article excerpt

Lenny Lungo has placed Cloudmor to great effect this season and he can bring up a four-timer in the Pick 3,4 Or 6 At Handicap Chase at Carlisle today.

The six-year-old has no fancy plans but this 5,500gns bargain buy has improved dramatically this season.

He showed little in his first few starts for Sue Forster but the move to Lungo's Dumfrieshire base has seen him win three and finish second in his last four starts.

Lungo deserves credit as he has switched his charge between hurdles and fences so the handicapper has been unable to get a grip on his talent.

He is now racing off a career high mark of 98 over fences but as he won his last hurdle start at Sedgefield off 97, he still looks very feasibly weighted.

Lungo also looks to hold strong claims with chaser Brooklyn Breeze in the For Racing & Results Handicap Hurdle.

A return to timber sees him racing off a mark around 20lb lower than that over fences and this one was placed at the Cheltenham Festival behind Liberthine two years ago.

Had he been ridden with more restraint, many believe he could have won that day.

Nicky Richards is in commanding form and Role On appears to have the VC Bet "Front Runners In US Racing" Novices' Hurdle at his mercy.

This son of St Leger winner Bob's Return is also related to the useful Irish chaser Never Compromise and opened his account at the second time of asking at Kelso last month. …
