Article excerpt

I am investigating my mother-in-law's family tree and I wonder if any of your readers can help me to discover something of a lady called Isabella Sanderson nee Southern.

Isabella was born around 1884 and probably died in October 1930 aged 46 years in Newbiggin.

She married John Sanderson in February 1905 and we believe they had three children, Edward, Agnes and Mary. At the time of their marriage they were living in Gateshead. We understand Mary married a man called Jonty Stephenson and had one son called Kenneth.

It appears John Sanderson died during the First World War and Isabella subsequently had two children by Thomas Hedley. The first was a boy, Thomas, and the second, a girl called Ivy born in 1925. Ivy is my mother-in-law.

It is possible that Isabella had a sister or a sister-in-law called Edith Annie Southern.

I am anxious to learn as much as I can about Isabella, as my mother-in-law knows nothing of her mother. If any of your readers know anything they feel may be of interest to me, however seemingly trivial, I would be most grateful if they could get in touch. …
