Ricky Hatton will get the chance to write his name into British boxing legend 21 years to the day since Barry McGuigan lost his world title in the searing heat of a Las Vegas car park.

Hatton's trainer Billy Graham believes his charge will rip the title of the greatest post-war British fighter away from McGuigan if he beats Jose Luis Castillo in their light-welterweight super-fight on the famous Strip on June 23.

Hatton will face the toughest test yet to his 42-fight unbeaten record when he comes face to face with the 33-year-old Mexican, who made his name in two epic world lightweight title clashes with Diego Corrales.

Graham said: "This fight will show what I have been telling everybody for years ( that Ricky is the greatest fighter to come out of this country. Some people still doubt that but they will soon realise.

"I have got a lot of British idols and I have watched hundreds of fights, but to me Ricky stands above all of them. A lot of the greats are friends of mine, and they tell me Ricky is the greatest British fighter too. …
