Oba Martins says he will put a European victory ahead of personal glory tonight against Zulte-Waregem in the UEFA Cup round of 32 second leg, (writes Lee Ryder).

The Nigerian international started his career slowly at St James' Park following a pounds 10m move from Inter Milan in August ( but has steadily moved up the goalscoring charts in a black-and-white shirt and bagged No 13 in the first leg in Belgium.

Now, with three goals in the UEFA Cup to his name and already into double figures with 11 Premiership games to go, as well as what Toon fans hope will be a long run in Europe, Martins could well end the season close to 20 goals.

However, Martins got his priorities right ahead of the tie with the Belgians.

He told the Chronicle: "I don't set a target for goals, I want the team to do well. …
