Teesside League

THE Highland Lad have made an excellent start to the new season by winning their last two matches 8-1.

The first win was against the White Swan and the next Lord Westbury A.

Rileys A team and the Leeds Hotel are unbeaten in their first three matches.

Rileys defeated Cricketers A 6-3 then Highland Lad 7-2. Last week they defeated the White Swan 7-2 to put themselves one point clear at the top ahead of Leeds who had wins over Lord Westbury 5-4, Portrack A 7-2 and Castle and Anchor 7-2.

In Division Two, from the first three matches only two teams remain unbeaten.

They are Spotted Cow and Station Hotel. Spotted had wins over Falcon 6-3, a brilliant 9-0 whitewash over the Mulberry Tree and 5-4 win away to the Speakeasy.

Station defeated Clarendon 8-1, Louis Bar A 6-3 and Elm Tree 5-4.

Middlesbrough & District League

IN the League Cup, high-flying Grenadier came crashing to earth when they lost 4-3 at home to Middlebeck Bar, who are new to the league.

Cup champions Tables B are comfortably through with a 4-0 win over Old Vic.

Dubliners, who are new to the league, had an excellent 4-1 win over Navigation.

Another new team, Falcon, defeated last season's second division champions Tables 4-2.

Also through from the third division are MCC, who defeated Whale Hill 4-3, while BFSC beat Red Lion B 4-3.
