Friends and family of Yasmin Love turned out in force to pack bags at a Teesside supermarket, bringing the appeal total to nearly pounds 6,000.

A merry bunch of helpers joined Yasmin's mum Sharon and her sisters Kayleigh, 19, and Natasha, 17, for the event at Asda in Thornaby in aid of the Yasmin Appeal.

It means the campaign is now just pounds 1,000 away from the pounds 7,000 needed to take Yasmin, seven, to swim with dolphins in Discovery Cove, Florida, and visit Disney World.

Sadly Yasmin, who has a muscle-wasting disease, couldn't be at the store but her grandparents Grahame and Norah Love, both 56, showed up with her uncle Grahame Love, 26, auntie Lisa Malcolm, 35, cousins and friends.

"Yasmin was too poorly to come. She had tremors and night sweats so she stayed in the warm," said Sharon. "But we're really pleased with the turnout. The pounds 755 we raised was absolutely phenomenal."
