Bent's Goals Will Save Us - Young

CHARLTON defender Luke Young today admitted that striker Darren Bent could be the difference between the club staying in the Premiership or being relegated this season.

Bent has just returned to fitness after being out with a knee injury for two months and scored in his first game back in the 4-0 win over West Ham.

Charlton have been in the bottom three for most of the season and are six points behind Wigan, who are safe in 17th place, but Young believes Bent can help the club close the gap.

He said: "Benty is a match-winner - pure and simple. I do not want to put too much pressure on him, but if we are going to stay up, Benty has to score the goals that will keep us up. That is the truth of the matter.

"We do not have another player like him and he will give the whole team a lift.

"Darren will not buckle under the pressure, he thrives on it and is raring to go. …
