Conference North outfit Blyth Spartans received a timely boost on and off the pitch over the weekend, (writes Jeff Bowron)

Second-half goals from Robbie Dale and Christian Graham gave Harry Dunn's side victory over Moor Green in the midlands.

And the funding has been found for the further development of Croft Park that will enable the club to be move into non-league's top flight should they achieve promotion.

The Spartans are 15 points behind the one automatic promotion place, currently held by Droylsden, and five adrift of the play-offs.

The Football Stadia Improvement Fund have given Blyth a grant for pounds 41,360, while there is additional funding from Blyth Valley Council and a loan from an unnamed individual.

The club will now go ahead with a pounds 125,000 phase two development of the ground at the end of the season.

The Port of Blyth stand will be increased to 554 seats, additional turnstiles installed, and a cover behind the goal at the Plessey Road will complete the upgrade. …
