Members of The Journal's Culture Club were last night treated to an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour at Metro Radio.

Our team joined forces with the station to offer 20 members the special visit to its new pounds 1.5m studios. They wpounds ere greeted at the station, at the 55A North building in Newcastle, by Emap's North-East managing director Sally Aitchison, who explained how its radio stations work, how they choose what songs to play and how they attract listeners.

The talk was followed by a tour of the studios to discover how a show is put together, while Metro DJs including Brian Moore offered their own expert input.

After being taught a few tricks of the trade by the experts, the Culture Club team were then able to get into the on-air studio and even try out the equipment for themselves.
