A homeless man who has committed 395 offences in 11 years has been given a five-year anti-social behaviour order banning him from areas across Teesside.

Derek John Lowe, 33, of no fixed address, has been banned from parts of Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar town centres until March 5, 2012.

He has also been barred from entering Bells Store, Sainsbury's at Bells, Superdrug, Lidl, Thornton's and Virgin Megastore, Tesco and Tesco Express stores and from behaving in any way that threatens or intimidates or annoys the staff or customers of any retail premises.

The order was granted at Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday.

The court heard that Lowe, originally from Hartlepool, had already breached an interim Asbo issued in December. He has also continued to commit offences since receiving the interim Asbo and had been jailed after a Hartlepool magistrates hearing.

PC Ken Saiger, Asbo co-ordinator with Cleveland Police, said Lowe was a prolific offender who has committed offences in every district of Cleveland since 1986. …
