A new leaf is being turned over at a central Redcar park.

Locke Park is getting a major facelift, including a new pavilion and improved footpaths and fencing, two park shelters and new front gates.

De-silting the park's lake and work to improve the surface of the tennis courts is also included as part of a pounds 300,000 environmental improvements scheme across the borough.

Redcar and Cleveland Councillor Dave Fitzpatrick, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism, said: "The investment in the park is part of a much bigger commitment to ensure we provide good facilities to create safer, strong communities across the borough.

"We also want to encourage greater numbers of our residents and visitors to Redcar to use our green spaces to support a healthy lifestyle."

He added: "There will be other improvements, including the Valley Gardens at both Saltburn and Marske, the Coronation Park at Loftus and Eston Recreation Ground. …
