Former Jimi Hendrix roadie James 'Tappy' Wright, of Whitley Bay, got a lot of people interested when he came across a hatful of rare Hendrix collectibles. In The News asked him about his recent discoveries, what to expect from his forthcoming book and what Hendrix may have been like today.

So, have you enjoyed re-visiting your past?

Yes, it's always nice to but it's actually something I do quite often. My life as a roadie is there with me all the time.

How about your friend with the guitar shop? The Hendrix artwork you found is currently in his shop window. Has it been good for him?

For those that know about it, yes. It's a really nice thing for people to come and see.

What do you actually make of the artwork? Do you remember Jimi doing it?

Yes. He would sit on a plane or in the studio and either paint or sketch something. Either that or he'd write lyrics on a matchbox or on cigarette packets.
