Aide caught in row over email

A STOCKTON MP is standing by a member of her staff who called a constituent "snotty" and said there was no rush to respond to her concerns.

Matthew Storey, an assistant to Stockton South MP Dari Taylor, made the comments in an email intended for a colleague in London.

But when he accidentally hit "reply" instead of "forward" he sent the email back to the constituent - an Eaglescliffe mum who had contacted the MP's office on behalf of her daughter-in-law Bethan Howells.

Primary school teacher Bethan, 25, was asking the MP for help after she had spent nearly three years applying for dozens of permanent teaching posts without success. She wanted to know why hundreds of primary school teachers were being trained up each year if jobs were not available.

In his email, Mr Storey said: "I have spoken to her mother about the issue at length and she's very snotty. Hates the government and wasn't afraid to say so. …
