ATLANTIC BEACH

-- A 27-year-old man accidentally shot himself in his left little finger while handling a gun about 12:15 p.m. Sunday at the A1A Roofing business, 48 W. Sixth St.

Police said the man went to the business to retrieve the .380-caliber Bersa S.A. handgun because he is the business owner's brother and they were worried about the recent termination of an employee. He was treated at Baptist Medical Center-Beaches.

-- Two motorcycles were forced off the road in a hit-and-run accident about 9 p.m. Friday on westbound Atlantic Boulevard near Sherry Street. Police said a Dodge pickup truck was traveling in the inside lane of the road then started to switch lanes. The truck caused the first motorcycle to adjust and hit the second motorcycle, causing both bikes to crash on the side of the road. The driver of the pickup stopped briefly but drove away from the scene. One man driving one of the motorcycles and a man and a woman on the other one were not seriously hurt. The Harley-Davidson and Suzuki motorcycles each had $5,000 in damage.
