A toddler who weighed five stone at just three years old is on a crash diet after a warning from medics.

Graeme Dellow was becoming a big cause for concern among his family as he piled on the pounds.

And when doctors assessed the youngster, who is now four, they confirmed he was obese and immediately needed to stop putting on weight.

But Graeme's parents Kathryn and David, from Leam Lane Gateshead, have turned the situation around quickly with a diet of healthy meals and daily exercise.

Yesterday they warned other parents of the dangers of hidden fat content in children's food.

Their warnings came as doctors in Gateshead said they were treating youngsters as young as three for obesity ( with 12% of reception age youngsters in the area classed as obese.

Now 3ft 6in, Graeme has lost half a stone and is expected to soon grow into his excess weight.

He visits a paediatric dietician at Gateshead's Queen Elizabeth Hospital every six weeks for expert eating advice. …
