I Want Candy

Based on a simple premise ( the fallout from two nice guys attempting to break into the world of blue movies ( I Want Candy is a surprisingly sweet and enjoyable teen comedy in the mould of American Pie, albeit set in the leafy lanes of Leatherhead.

Despite the sordid subject matter, the film is more saucy than seedy, trading largely in smutty Carry On-style postcard humour.

That's not to say that screenwriters Peter Hewitt and Phil Hughes and Jamie Minoprio and Jonathan Stern aren't averse to toilet humour.

Director Stephen Surjik, who previously made Wayne's World 2, brings a distinctly British flavour to his picture, poking fun at our supposedly uptight attitudes towards sex.

Film students and best friends Joe (Riley) and Baggy (Burke) have just put the finishing touches to the screenplay for their 90-minute feature The Love Storm. …
