FOLLOWING its successful launch last autumn/winter, Wallis's W: A Limited Edition collection, has come back for spring/summer with a whole new array of "I can't believe they're not designer" clothes.

There's beading and embellishment that wouldn't look out of place on a Prorsum catwalk, well-cut tunics and shift dresses, voluminous silk tops and neat, directional tailoring.

The 40-piece collection rolls out this Friday in 12 stores, including the flagship Marble Arch branch, but keen shoppers who can't wait that long can get a head start online at wallis.co.uk, where most of the range is already available.

Only a few years ago Wallis was the preserve of Home Counties mums, but it has since had a huge style revamp. While the safe stuff still lurks on the rails, W: A Limited Edition offers a more fashion-conscious customer something completely different.

Fabrics are more luxurious - think silk, crepe, linen and satin - and the colourways are more adventurous, with a strong theme of burnt orange, mink, cobalt blue and lots of highmaintenance white.

Must-have items destined to sell out fast are the burnt-orange tuckfront dress ([pounds sterling]45), a pure white linen bell-sleeve jacket ([pounds sterling]70), a mink silk tunic dress ([pounds sterling]55) and, predicted to be the biggest seller of all, a steel acetate satin tunic dress with jumbo beads at the neckline.

There's also statement jewellery - a pretty, organically shaped silver chain at [pounds sterling]10, plastic orange and white link chains ([pounds sterling]12) and chunky Perspex bangles ([pounds sterling]10).

The best thing of all is that the Limited Edition moniker is actually genuine.

Only between 150 and 500 copies of each item are made, and once a line has sold out, it will not be replaced. …
