THE boyfriend of Lindsay Hawker today told how the murdered teacher was "the best thing in my life".

Ryan Garside, 21, was speaking in Japan where he arrived today with Miss Hawker's father William to identify her body.

Mr Garside, from Durham, was a distraught as he said: "I loved her so, so much.

We planned to one day get married and start a family." He told how he was to join her in Japan this summer. The couple, who had been together for four years, were planning to travel the world after saving money in Japan.

But the 22-year-old was found buried in a bath of sand on a balcony near Tokyo after she went missing over the weekend.

Speaking after a meeting with Japanese police officers, her father said: "I will not rest until the suspect is caught." Mr Hawker, from Brandon, Coventry, said his daughter had always wanted to teach and had researched Japan to make sure she was aware of all the dangers.

Miss Hawker had been working for five months for language school Nova after graduating last year.

Her body was discovered by police on Monday at the flat of a private pupil, 28-year-old Tatsuya Ichihashi.

Police had gone to his address after her flatmates reported her missing.

Mr Ichihashi, who was at the flat when officers arrived, fled and remains on the run.

Mr Hawker insisted that his daughter had not been in a relationship with Ichihashi, but was BOWILSON

"tricked" into giving him private tuition.

Friends from Leeds University and Japan today wrote tributes on a website dedicated to her.

Miss Hawker is remembered as an "intelligent" and "caring" woman who also had an "outrageous and fun" side. One close friend, Ash Glaser, who set up the

website on Facebook, said she was "hard not to love".

He posted: "My memories of Lindsay are of a big beaming smile, a cute, yet strange accent and a whole array of jokes. …
