JOSE MOURINHO has warned Chelsea to be on their guard for potential flashpo ints

against Valencia tomorrow night.

The head coach has shown his team a video of the Spanish side's last Champions League tie with Inter Milan which was marred by gamesmanship and ended in a mass brawl.

The ill-feeling simmered throughout but ignited at full-time when Valencia's Carlos Marchena kicked out at Nicolas Burdisso, who was then punched in the face by David Navarro.

Valencia's reserve keeperwas chased by Inter players and the chaos continued into the dressing rooms as officials struggled to separate the warring teams.

Ahead of Chelsea's quarter-final first leg at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho urged his men not to be riled by the visitors.

"It is the kind of situation where we have to be intelligent," he said. "When it comes to UEFA opponents sometimes it is a bit different and we have to be ready.

"I showed my players one image in the video of Valencia against Inter: Minute five there was duel with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Santiago Canizares and Roberto Ayala sprinted 50metres to try to make a mess around him.

"I told my players the same as I say every UEFA competition when we play tricks against Latins. We've played Spanish and Portuguese teams a lot of times and I tell them the mentality is different.

"The pure English mentality in the Premiership is where almost nobody cheats and where people try to be correct and respect opponents." Valencia and Inter were fined [pounds sterling]106,000 while Navarro was banned for six months and Marchena for two games. Four Inter players were suspended with Burdisso's six-match ban being the heaviest.

Mourinho is hoping there will be no repeat of thedisgraceful scenes tomorrow and urged Valencia to play fair.
